Ever since Moon's dropped the now-classic Dupont EP, he's received love for his work the world over. People like Jazzanova, Recloose, Ivana Santilli, Rednose Distrikt, Povo and others have called up the Public Transit studio red phone for remixes that have charted from San Francisco to Tokyo, London to Hamburg, and all points in between. Big name DJs like Gilles Peterson, Mr. Scruff, Rainer Truby, and DJ Spinna have mashed out many-a dancefloor with some Moonstarr niceness. Just a little note: TWO of his tracks are selected as "Best of 2004" contenders for Gilles Peterson's Radio 1 Worldwide program (that's the huge "Detriot" tune on Sonar Kollektiv and his remix of Povo's "Uam Uam" on Raw Fusion). ALEX ATTIAS - October 25, 2004 This weeks special guest is nu-jazz/broken beat poineer mr Alex Attias of Lausanne, Switzerland. Founder of the Corn Flex and Visions labels, he is also known for his projects as Bel Air Project, Cataylst, Mustang... collabs with Dego for Plutonia as well as projects with his brother Stephan Attias. AYRO (LIVE) - June 28, 2004 This week the Federation and BrokeN'Beat radio bring you very hot live recording from May 7th at the Mission in NYC. Armed with an arsenal of electronics and keyboards, Ayro comes to bring it... all freestyle... without a net. A packed house got down to the electronic, the love, and the funk, the likes of which they will not soon forget. Apologies for the contagious mis-pronounciations of people's names that was going on that night. Ayro's live sets are legendary. His label, Raw Fusion, has catapulted into the top of the world's Nu-Jazz illuminati record crates. The label grew out of a seven years running club night in Sweden called Fusion, and is basically a mirror image of what the club is about... signing bossa and jazz acts alongside cutting edge electro and soulful hip-hop. Expect nothing less from his mixing style... and if you are in NYC July 1st, do not sleep on the "Tropic of Cancer" party which is going to be banannas (see info to right). You might remember 97' classic track "Goddess" (wore out the grooves on that one!)... Since then Waiwan has been dropping future soul bombs like "Feeling Me Feeling You" and "Changes", plus plays regularly across the UK at nights such as Plastic People in London and Manchester's Counter Culture and Electric Chair. Look for an upcoming 12" called Interstellar very soon as well as a new full length. CARTEL 3i - May 26, 2004 Exclusive mix this week from Lazer Kru front man Cartel, fusing sounds to create a flavour for the musically aware. Also check their mixes on the quality NuWaveRadio site... nice. ROB PAINE - May 20, 2004 Switching things up with Worship label owner and reggae archivist, Rob Paine. Rob popped through with a mountain of scratchy 45's and dub plates for a smoke filled 2hour session, and threw down an amazing educational timeline of ska, reggae, dancehall, dub and downtempo. Producing a tracklisting was a daunting task... more info later. Can't get enough of the intro track taken from a Worship studios recording of President Brown. DOMU - March 15, 2004 This weeks show was recorded at IAMNY in a hot little venue on New York's lower east side on Thursday March 4th. The man with the magic fingers killed it with a air-tight set of all the latest tracks with a variety of flavors ranging from jazzy, deep and techy, soulful, housey... you name it. Dewbury is one of the UK's original Jazz DJs preaching his musical gospel worldwide since the mid 80s. He is the sole power behind the Jazz Rooms, host of one of Britain's longest running club sessions, attracting aficionados from the farthest corners of the earth with its unique blend of club jazz, underground funk and Afro-Latin rhythms mixed together with the current musical mores. He is also the man responsible for Brighton's world famous Jazz Bop events. Dewbury is also one of Britain's leading antiquarians of black music. His compilations of forgotten treasures, carefully dusted down and lovingly restored, have become must-own material for music lovers everywhere. He has worked with such jazz luminaries as Art Blakey, Pharoah Sanders and also folk-jazz legend Terry Callier, whom Dewbury managed.
